I have done much research and gathered all the results from the lab… It looks like almost all of our patients are addicted to Twitter, Meebo, and other time killing plug-ins and add-ons in their work place. Let’s find out what the results tell us the most addictive and non-productive Firefox Plugin is.

Twitter

It’s nice to know what your friends are doing, but is it really necessary to spend every waking moment monitoring when they go to the bathroom, or knowing what they’re having for dinner, or what their least favorite song of the day is? No, it’s not.

Twitter takes the cake in killing productivity. It can help if you’re existence is based around blogging or gossiping, but if you’re the average office worker trying to get your daily tasks completed you may find Twitter to be the reason you failed.

StumbleUpon

The notorious Stumble! button has been known to destroy hours of the day without any good reason. It’s always fun to get a few random sites just by clicking a button, or even spending enough time you’re connected with people who really stumble/promote things that are worth seeing/reading.

In reality you’re not getting much out of this and it should not be a regular practice in your workplace.

In the web-world Stumble! traffic is low converting and does not justify the time involved for the dollars in return, in our experience anyways.

PicLens

So there’s been a lot of buzz about PicLens, heck even their site has a quote from CNET saying “Cooliris makes you a more efficient web surfer.” - When’s the last time you needed to browse through 3000 images to make your decision on the search result you needed? Doesn’t a simple Google search give you the information you wanted faster? It may not be as flashy at doing it, but last time I checked Flash isn’t the right decision anyways. It’s all about serving things to users effectively and clearly, and PicLens does not help do that.

You could pose that the neat ‘preview website’ before clicking on it, or pre-fetching pages for faster browsing makes it all worth it… but if you’ve never been a webmaster that is worried about impressions for advertising or having to pay more for server bandwidth, then you just wouldn’t understand.

Gmail Notifier

Interrupting work flow and thought flow is a sinister method of killing your productivity. Avoid your email addiction, you don’t need to check it every 30 seconds. Once an hour should be adequate, so get back to work and stop reading blogs while you wait for your email notifier to go off.

Meebo

Having an instant messenger is key to success in my opinion, and the extension of Meebo makes a lot of sense, if you’re still in high school. Why does everyone need to have instant access to your attention while you’re trying to be effective? Last we’ve seen the Meebo extension is spreading faster and faster reducing productivity and eliminating personal space along the way.

An addiction is a vicious habit that has been formed in an individual who has lost their ability to control their actions and behaviors even when the individual is well aware that the habit/addiction will result in negative consequences, such as health risks, relationship problems or severe financial loss. Firefox addiction is now being classified as an official addiction, characterized by excessive Firefox usage and constant cravings to use Firefox Add-ons, Plug-ins and Social Media platforms. Luckily addiction treatment is available.

These compulsions consequently call for the need for an individual to seek treatment. FirefoxAddiction.com is here to help! FirefoxAddiction.com offers an element of spirituality in order to help the addict curb their addiction to Firefox browsers, Firefox Plug-ins and the numerous Social Media platforms available on the web.

If you or somebody that you know has been experiencing intense compulsions related to Firefox use and abuse, the following 10 questions may help you ascertain whether Treatment and Recovery help should be sought through FirefoxAddiction.com’s 12 Step Program:

Has your Firefox usage ever caused you to miss work, school, or other important events (birthdays, weddings, etc.)?

Has your Firefox usage ever caused you to experience relationship problems with your significant other, friends or family members?

Has your repeated use of social media platforms and Firefox applications caused a negative impact on your (online or offline) reputation?

Has the amount of time you spent using Firefox caused you to lose track of your health, hygiene and the welfare of yourself and others?

Have you ever committed or considered committing an illegal act using Firefox or Social Media Applications?

Has your Firefox usage ever made you lose track of time?

Does your desire to use Firefox cause you to have sleeping problems?

Have you ever sold anything to finance your internet or Firefox use?

Do disappointments or arguments cause an excessive urge within you to use Firefox?

Has your constant use of Firefox caused you to lose ambition in other aspects of life or to become less efficient in activities you were once good at (sports, etc.)?

For several decades, Twelve-Step Programs have been an important part of the recovery and treatment process specifically designed for substance and behavioral addictions. The first 12-Step Program was introduced as Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) in 1939, and in the following years numerous other recovery programs began popping up around the nation including Cocaine Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Marijuana Anonymous, among others. Today we’re faced with a new-age addiction focused solely on Firefox Addiction, Social Media Addiction and Firefox Plug-In Addiction, calling for the need to create a Firefox Anonymous (FFA) group.

Twelve Principles have been formulated to assist the recovery and treatment process exclusively designed for Firefox Addiction and our Firefox Anonymous Recovery Program.

We admitted that we were powerless over Firefox browsers, Plug-Ins and Social Media – that our lives have become unmanageable.

We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to a normal way of thinking, living, and using the internet including Firefox browsers and applications.

We made a decision to turn our will, our lives, and our Firefox usage over to this Power as we understood Him.

We made a searching and fearless moral and financial inventory of ourselves

We admitted to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs and our unhealthy overuse of Firefox.

We were entirely ready to have these defects of character and Firefox compulsions removed.

We humbly asked God (as we understand him) to remove our shortcomings and intensive Firefox compulsions.

We made a list of all persons we had harmed, physically and virtually via Firefox, and become willing to make amends to them all.

We are willing to make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do would injure them or others.

We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God (as we understood him), praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out while using Firefox, Social Media Platforms, and browsing the Internet.

Having made an effort to practice these principles in all of our affairs, we tried to carry this message to other compulsive Firefox users.
